March Activity -- Individual Worth

This week we worked on the first two "Value Experience" requirements for Individual Worth in our Personal Progress books. We read and discussed Palm 8: 4-6, Jeremiah 1:5, John 13:34, Doctrine and Covenants 18:10, and Abraham 3:22-23.

We finished off the evening by thinking about where we would like to be 10, 20, or even 50 years down the road and wrote down some goals to help us get there. The whole activity was made better by wonderful company and super cute scrapbook paper. ;)

For those of you that couldn't make it on Tuesday, WE MISSED YOU!

Post-a-monies

Tonight for our activity we made "post-a-monies", our Mormon version of postsecret.com, where we made post cards that had pictures and statements about our testimonies or the Young Women values. Those that participated were able to use the activity as a "write-in" under Divine Nature. It was great to see every one's creative side and get a feel for their talents and testimonies, and we had a good time making the post cards! Thanks, girls, for sharing your talents with us. :)

How To Use This Page

Dear YW,

This page is for you. It is specifically designed for you to use for personal progress. Many of the value activities ask you to read in your scriptures and then record thoughts and feelings in a journal. If you'd like, you may share those thoughts and feelings here. You can post pictures of activities you do, projects you complete, or to report on a specific value experience. If you actively participate on the blog, keep track of the time you spend writing. Just reading and posting can count as a value project under Divine Nature (the one about participating in an event that helps build unity). Be sure to sign your name at the end of each post, as well as add your name as a label to the post. I also will be keeping track of my experiences with Personal Progress. (Yes, that's right, I'm doing it again!) When we do activities that are based on personal progress, we will also showcase the work we do here.

It is my hope that through this page, through what we share with each other, that we can learn about one another, strengthen our testimonies, create a spirit of sisterhood and help others come unto Christ through our experiences. Only you can make it into something that is useful and worthwhile.

What is Personal Progress?

So says the Church website:

Personal Progress is a goal-setting program that helps a young woman develop a testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel. A young woman can work on Personal Progress even if she is the only young woman in her ward or branch.

Personal progress gives a young woman activities to do that will help her:

  • Know she is a daughter of God.
  • Rely upon the Holy Ghost.
  • Develop personal religious behaviors, such as prayer, scripture study, obedience to commandments, and service.
  • Keep her baptismal covenants and prepare and qualify for temple covenants.
  • Develop talents and skills that prepare her for her future roles.
  • Establish a pattern of step-by-step progress through her life.

She will have a pattern of progress for her life that will bring her joy and happiness!

This blog, as well as the Hobble Creek 13th Ward Young Women's blog, is a place where we can specifically keep track of our Personal Progress goals and successes.
